Woman Inc. is pleased to announce the re-launch of the Woman Inc. Legal Aid Clinic offered to clients of the Crisis Centre and Shelter. The re-launch of the Woman Inc. Legal Aid Clinic will take place during the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence which is Observed each year beginning on IDEVAW (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women)- November 25 and ending on December 10, International Human Rights Day.

In keeping with this year’s theme adopted at CSW- the UN Commission on the Status of women
“Ending violence against women and girls” the hallmark of the Woman Inc Legal Aid Clinic is to ensure that women are aware of their rights to protection under the law.

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is an international campaign originating from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute sponsored by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership in 1991.
Participants chose the dates, November 25 and December 10 in order to symbolically link violence against women and human rights and to emphasize that such violence is a violation of human rights. Since 1991, the 16 Days Campaign has given the world a time to come together and take action to end violence against women and girls

The 16-day period also highlights other significant dates including December 1, which is World AIDS Day.
In recent past Woman Inc has held consultations and seminars regarding the links between Gender based violence and HIV/AIDS in observance of IDEVAW and the 16 days campaign.

Woman Inc. is a voluntary, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1984 that draws upon the creative energies of women from all walks of life and is dedicated to providing assistance to victims of rape, incest, domestic violence, domestic crisis and sexual harassment at the workplace.
